“In a world that often overlooks the person behind the parent, we start by seeing you.

Everything we do is rooted in four principles.

Our Philosophy

At Sawubona, we believe that being truly seen is where healing begins. Our work is shaped by four interconnected values that guide every circle, every conversation, every space we hold.

Seeing

Every person who comes to Sawubona is seen first as a whole person; not a role, not a diagnosis, not a problem to solve. We begin by acknowledging your unique story.

Belonging

Isolation ends where belonging begins. We build villages rooted in shared lived experience, bridging the gap between individual struggle and community strength.

Holding

We provide emotional containment and hold your story with compassion. All our projects are clinical psychology-led and psychologically informed.

Becoming

Motherhood is a transition, not a destination. We provide space to honour the evolutionary process of building preferred accounts of identity.

Our flagship project

Mamas Circle

A free national online space for reflective peer support. Join a community of over 400 mothers deconstructing motherhood narratives in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

What mums say about Sawubona

Voices from the village

I think spaces just for mums are really needed and there’s not many...having a protected space for mums...feels really necessary.
— Mamas Circle Attendee
I appreciate feeling like part of a community, a ‘village,’ where people understand your experiences, reducing feelings of isolation.
